How I work
How I Work
I believe in the profound impact that creative expression, creative exploration and play can have on our lives. I approach therapy with a deep commitment to understanding each individual in the context of their lived experience. My work is grounded in neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, and intersectional practices, which I believe are vital for a sense of safety, respect and collaboration. Each of us is wonderfully unique. We are also shaped by our identities, our experiences and our communities. If you are navigating anxiety, trauma or life transitions, I can support you in your journey - meeting you where you are, with empathy and respect.
My Approach
I integrate art therapy, somatic awareness, mindfulness, imaginal work and dialogue-based therapy to help you explore your emotions, thoughts and experiences. You will find our sessions together are flexible and may involve expressive and exploratory art making, embodied sensing, combined with reflective conversation. I’ll continue to check in with what works best for you.
Creative Arts Therapy sessions at Seedopod Creative Arts Studio are client-focused empowering you to shape the work we do together, while feeling supported throughout. I see therapy as a deeply collaborative process.
Inclusive & Trauma-Informed
My practice is built on a foundation of inclusivity. I work with people of all identities, backgrounds, and neurotypes, ensuring that the space is affirming and respectful for all. I am particularly committed to supporting trans and gender-diverse individuals, and those who are marginalised - including single mothers, people with disabilities, and those navigating complex identity dynamics.
Polyvagal Informed
I am polyvagal-informed, meaning I can help you track your nervous system responses during our sessions- which may shift between states of safety, activation, or shutdown. I can help you understand these shifts and support you in finding balance at your own pace. I am also currently deepening my knowledge of Somatic Experiencing principles as part of my ongoing professional development with Somatic Experiencing® International.
Social Context, Community & Connection
Our experiences and wellbeing are not only shaped by our personal histories and relationships, but also by the social, cultural and systemic contexts in which we live. Experiences of marginalisation, discrimination, and unequal access to power and resources can profoundly shape our sense of self, agency, and belonging.
I recognise that choice and self-determination do not exist in isolation from these realities. In our work together, we can explore how these influences intersect with your own experiences, while honouring your understanding of yourself and what is meaningful to you.
What to Expect in a Session
During our therapy sessions you will have an active role in shaping your therapeutic journey. Together, we will decide on the approach that best suits your needs- whether this be through artmaking, somatic work, movement or dialogue. Sessions may flow through simple cycles - enter, notice, shape, reflect. We will ensure you explore at a pace you are comfortable with. In some sessions you may choose just to create art as a form of self care. We will conclude each session by identifying next steps, or grounding if needed.
Why This Matters
My aim is to support people in developing a deeper understanding of their experiences, recognising their own strengths and possibilities, and exploring what meaningful change might look like within the realities of their lives.
While my primary focus is on trauma-informed creative arts therapy and counselling, I also draw on eco-arts practices when appropriate, helping clients reconnect with the natural world. If you are interested in learning more about my eco-arts projects and philosophy, I invite you to explore my Liminal Wilds website.
