Collaborative Nature-Based Art Therapy Resource: Submission Guidelines

Expressions of Interest due Thursday 22nd January, 2026

Updated Timeline & Expressions of Interest

To support contributors over the busy holiday period, we are now inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) ahead of the full submission deadline. An EOI gives us an early sense of your idea or proposed contribution and helps us ensure a diverse and balanced resource. It will also allow us to offer encouragement or guidance if needed and to identify any overlapping ideas. If several EOIs explore a similar theme or process, we may reach out to discuss differentiation or gently invite collaboration between contributors.

The final resource is expected to be compiled, published and distributed by late May/early June 2026

To begin the process, please submit an EOI by emailing a brief summary (3–5 sentences) of your idea to brionytronson@gmail.com by Thursday 22nd January, 2026. Before submitting an EOI, it is recommended you read submission guidelines - to help give a sense of what needs to be included in the full submission.

This project is led by Briony Tronson, with editorial & warmly welcomed support from Sarah Brooke who is deeply aligned with the values and spirit of this project (www.sarahbrookecounselling.com). Sarah will be assisting throughout the process, including reviewing EOIs and submissions. I am thrilled to have her on board.

Full submissions will be due in March 2026, with the confirmed date to be announced shortly.

Hi, and welcome to the Collaborative Nature-Based Art Therapy Resource. This project aims to bring together a group of creative folks in the eco-art therapy community,  to share nature based arts therapy processes as well as creative nature inspired activities, prompts and poetry to inspire and support others in the field. The aim of this project is to celebrate our collective work and to create a free resource that will be able to be distributed to others across the country!

The purpose of this collaborative resource is to gather concise, practice-supporting eco-art therapy tools, reflections and creative processes for use by practitioners and the broader community.

This collaborative resource is an opportunity to showcase a wide range of nature-based art therapy practices and ideas. Contributions really don’t have to be complex, they can be simple and accessible- what matters most is that they are creatively offered and provide something useful, inspiring or supportive for others in the field.

Resource Length & Format:

As a digital PDF resource, it is anticipated that the final document will be approximately 30-50 pages in length. This depends on the number of submissions and the depth of the contributions. If the resource grows any larger than this, it may need to be split it into two editions to ensure it is both manageable and accessible.

Welcome to this exciting project, we are so thrilled to have you as a part of it!

Below are the submission guidelines, key details, and deadlines for participation.

What this project is looking for:

This project is seeking high-quality and diverse contributions. These contributions will likely reflect the rich variety of nature-based art therapy processes, materials and reflections. Some examples of contributions as below:

Nature-Based Art Therapy Processes

Creative arts-based processes (including visual, sound and movement) that either involve natural materials or respectfully use nature as inspiration for therapeutic exploration and reflection. These contributions focus more on the process and are typically associated with healing, self-expression, growth or mindfulness through art.

Eco-Art & Nature-Based Craft:

Completed 2D artworks, photography and/or 3D sculptures and installations created from natural materials. Eco-activist art, or artworks that highlight eco-social commentary, will also be considered. Please include a brief description of each artwork to explain the connection to eco-art, nature based arts therapy or nature.

Poetry & Reflective Writings:

Share short poems or reflective writing that explores the connection between creativity (and/or the creative process) to nature, and wellbeing. These submissions could include personal reflections, poetry inspired by nature, or writings about how art-making with nature supports emotional and creative expression

Personal Stories & Reflections

Reflect on your own personal journey with eco-art, nature-based arts and arts therapy. This could include personal stories, exploring or reflecting on your own experiences of connecting with nature through nature based arts, or reflections of how nature -baed art has influenced your own wellbeing

Optional Contribution: Recommended Resources

As part of this collaborative resource, we thought it could be wonderful to share one or two resources (books, articles and/or websites) that have inspired your work or that you would recommend to others in the field of eco-art therapy and nature-based art therapy practices. These recommendations could be included in the final resource list, which will be shared with contributors and readers.

Feel free to provide a brief description of each resource, explaining why it’s meaningful to your practice.

Design & Presentation:

The resource will be carefully designed to make sure that each contribution is presented in a professional and visually cohesive manner. This booklet will be easy to navigate and creatively engaging, reflecting the creativity and quality of the work being shared. This will include a structured layout with clear headings, well-positioned images, and a bio and headshot for each contributor.

Why Participate?

Contributing to this resource will be a chance for you to showcase your unique nature-based art therapy processes and connect with a wider community of arts therapists. By sharing your work, the intention is you will gain:

Exposure for your practice in a widely distributed resource

Networking opportunities with like-minded professionals

Recognition with a bio, headshot, and contact info included

A lasting impact by inspiring others in the eco-art therapy field

Distribution & Contributor Copies

All contributors will receive a free digital copy of the final resource once it is published. You are very welcome (and encouraged) to share this PDF via your own professional networks, websites, and/or social media. The aim here is to create a freely distributed, community-owned resource for the eco-art therapy field. In our view, the more we spread the word, the more people we inspire to connect back to themselves and to the natural world.

Please remember, contributions don’t have to be complex; simple submissions are very welcomed as is creativity at every level.

We really hope you’ve got a wonderful idea brewing!
